With Odyseek, you're not merely crafting a CV or resume template; you're creating a dynamic profile to connect with recruiters and hiring managers, showcasing your true career value and making sure that your distinct career narrative is conveyed beautifully and uniquely. Embrace the Odyseek advantage and get resume help redefining your approach to resume building, and setting a new standard for success in your career journey.
The two resumes to create include:
1) A simple version (i.e. no graphs or custom fonts for ATS)
2) A more aesthetic version to send to direct contacts.
Use bullet points and concise language. A recruiter spends an average of 6 seconds scanning a resume (Source: Glassdoor & Top Resume), make your resume easy to read with curated achievements.
Limit to 1 page (10+ years experience, recruiters & hiring managers prefer 2 pages) and feature 3-5 bullet highlights per job. Remove fluff, focus on impact and the value provided for previous employers.
Be sure to start with your most recent position to earliest positions. Remember to write your present role in present tense and previous roles in past tense.
Remove pronouns like 'I', "we", etc. (unless this is part of a brand or company name). For example, instead of “I built an onboarding sales training for new hires,” reword as “Built onboarding sales training for new hires.”
Include relevant keywords to stand out as a perfect match. Scan the job description for keywords to weave into your resume (e.g. action verbs & specific priorities).
Avoid writing in a passive voice (e.g. "executed” a project is more effective than “worked” on a project). Avoid filler keywords such as, "thoroughly", "effectively"—adverbs generally don't add value.
Highlight achievements, goals & KPIs (key performance indicators) with #’s, $’s and/or %'s (e.g. "Managed over $1M in annual revenue” or “Achieved over 125% sales revenue quarter over quarter in 2023”).
Please no pictures (unless you're going for a modeling gig or if it's a standard practice in your country). No gifs, or graphs. Recruiters may disqualify you if your resume is fluffy or gimmicky. Don't try to game ATS systems with hidden white text keywords, they're smarter than that now. Most importantly, always be honest.
Avoid typos & grammatical errors. Make sure to proofread. Having a typo or grammatical error could kill your chances with a hiring manager or recruiter—this shows a lack of attention to detail. Get a buddy you trust to proofread too.
